Last week, The Harris Foundation for Lifelong Learning held its annual dinner – a celebration of the work completed over the past year and a “thank you” to all those involved. Among the projects receiving support from the Harris Foundation is “Artis Bounce”, run by the creative learning charity Artis.
“Resilience is described as the capacity to ‘bounce back’ from adverse experiences, and succeed despite adversity.”
Public Health England (2014)
Artis Bounce uses the arts to support children and young people with their mental health and wellbeing. In particular, it helps them to explore, understand and express their emotions through music, drama and dance.
The video below features an Artis Bounce project: “You, Me, Together”. It engaged four schools over five weeks in arts activities that explored the language children use to express their feelings and their understanding of mental health.
The project went on to win a National Creative Learning Award (2018/19) for Performing Arts & Music.
